IT ALL STARTED WHEN…
Began my career in accountancy covering many roles in both small companies and large industries.
Worked in sales and marketing and the hospitality industry in front office management.
Ran my own business working in interior design and soft furnishings for private and business clients.
My career path changed when my son started school and I supported various classes as a parent helper.
After studying for a specialist teaching assistant course, and gaining my qualification, I took a job as a teaching assistant in a primary school where I worked for 11 years.
Gained my higher-level teaching assistant award, followed by a BA Honours degree in Education and Professional Development.
Moved onto secondary education where I worked for 9 years as the literacy lead for the inclusion team and a keyworker/mentor for 15 students including support for career and higher education placements.
“I knew that golf would be a powerful tool for this, having seen the positive impact it has had on so many young lives during my time as a volunteer within the golf industry.”
I continued with my education with many courses that gave me involvement in planning, assessing, and monitoring progression for a variety of needs. These included: autism; dyslexia and related specific learning difficulties; counselling; equality and diversity; social cohesion and well-being; psychology; brain injury; drugs awareness; TOP Sportsability; behaviour management and behaviour for learning; trauma; bereavement; growth mindset; National Programme for physical, social and healthcare education; mentoring; parental support ; A1 assessor award for education
Became a member of the junior section committee at The Kendleshire Golf Club 12 years ago and have been the junior organiser for the last 5 years. I am also the secretary for the Avon Schools and Gloucestershire Schools Golf Associations.
For Gloucestershire Golf Union I am currently part of the Communications Strategy team supporting further development of junior and schools’ golf to reach many more children and young people across the county.
When I was offered the role of the Kendleshire Kids Foundation CEO, I was honoured to be part of a great programme supporting young people through their difficult experiences and knew that golf would be a powerful tool for this, having seen the positive impact it has had on so many young lives during my time as a volunteer within the golf industry.
