My passion is supporting the development of young people in golf, as a volunteer, which I have done for the last 13 years through The Kendleshire Golf Club and the last 10 years for Gloucestershire Golf Union.
“It is an honour to be part of this and I believe we have a valuable role to play in the development of our young people. ”
At The Kendleshire - junior organiser for a number of years and continued as a junior committee member right up to the current time.
For Gloucestershire, I managed U16 coaching squads, the U16 and U18 teams and I am currently the County Men’s Teams’ Captain.
Secretary of the Bristol and District Junior Golf League for the last 12 years.
Supported coaching for grass roots golf right through to elite players. In my experience, golf has proved to be highly motivating for young people and is a great way of developing not only the physical skills but also psychological skills, social skills, team building, self-esteem, life skills and health and fitness in the games’ great outdoor spaces.
In both my main work and volunteer roles, I am responsible for business planning, managing budgets and strategic planning of future projects – all key skills to support my most recent volunteer role – the Kendleshire Kids Foundation. It is an honour to be part of this and I believe we have a valuable role to play in the development of our young people. I know that golf is, and will continue to be, a huge part of that development.
