YOUTH ENGAGEMENT LEAD

IT ALL STARTED WHEN…

  • Worked in retail for 2 years

  • Completed a sports coaching apprenticeship with Future Stars where I gained a Level 3 DPESS qualification, whilst learning on the job in schools. The qualification means I am able to coach a huge number of sports

  • Became a head coach and was then able to lead sports programmes in schools. I also took on the rota lead, meaning I could cover sickness and holidays and communicate directly with schools

  • Throughout this training, I began the process of becoming a mentor and went from shadowing other mentors to working with my own young people

  • Took a year out and travelled, taking part in different volunteering activities, including supporting a school’s activity day in Bali and a book collection programme

  • Gained a FA Level 1 coaching badge, working for South Gloucestershire Development Centre and after working alongside another coach for 6 months, took on my own U11 team coaching

  • Have worked for Youth 8 for the last 15 months where I have undertaken awareness training on Adverse Childhood Experiences – essential training for not only our work, but also for the Kendleshire Kids Foundation

  • Have played football since the age of 6 but have always had a keen interest in all sports

  • Always driven to challenge myself, especially in sports, recently led me to take up golf, amongst other colleagues in the Kendleshire Kids Foundation team

  • Strive Youth Engagement Ltd founder and director from 2022
