October 2023 to January 2024
It has been a really busy year so far, so here are the last few things we have been up to.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO DAWN WARD
Hello everyone
It seems ages ago, now, that we celebrated Christmas and New Year. We hope you all had a great time!
The dreadful weather has certainly not inspired us all for the New Year and beyond! It seems that most of the time we meet with our young people, we are stepping out into a wet, dreary world. Thank goodness we now have use of The Kendleshire Golf Club’s new indoor coaching facility – an absolute bonus!!! It is definitely helping the ‘feel good factor’!
We welcome two new partners -Winston’s Wish and Kooth – both of these organisations are first class in supporting the mental health of young people. We are so pleased that we can signpost our young people to them. Both organisations’ website links are on our website.
Many thanks to Club Captain, Nick Corderoy and also Junior Captain, Elizabeth Robbins, for raising funds for the Kendleshire Kids Foundation in their captains years. This is so very much appreciated.
Another big thank you
A big thank you to The Kendleshire Golf Club for providing a long-term work experience placement – a first for us. This has been invaluable for the young person concerned and has helped in his decision making for forward learning and work options. Thanks to Pat Murphy, Course Manager Craig Fudge and his whole team for their support.
We are always entirely grateful to The Kendleshire Golf Club for their support of our young people, by providing us with facilities, food and drink for our programme. You are all amazing!!!!!
Dawn Ward

Congratulations Harry
We would like to Congratulate Harry and his partner, Danielle, on the birth of Baby Beau, who is doing really really well, as well as getting engaged! We are excited at getting Beau a golf club, early in the summer, so she can beat her daddy;-)
With the new range changes happening at The Kendleshire, back in November, the KKF group found it fun to try and whack the ball over the new temporary structure... they won KKF 1 - Temporary structure 0
Since mid December things have changed a lot for our winter group sessions as we can now work with the young people inside, where they can enjoy and relax playing on Toms Trackman launch monitor.
There has been some brilliant shots including a Hole Out (which everyone wants to do in their golfing career :-) )
You can make a difference :-)

Neurodiversity webinar
Neurodiversity describes differences in brain function from person to person that affect daily mental functions. It embraces differences in brain function and behaviour as a natural manifestation of humanity's variety, rather than viewing them as wrong or problematic, as stated by: Neurodiversity and What It Means to Be Neurodiverse (verywellmind.com)
Under the umbrella of neurodiversity, people fall into two subcategories: neurotypical or neurodivergent.
Neurotypical: This describes people who have standard or typical brain processing and behaviours. Neurotypical people were formerly considered "normal," and people who weren't neurotypical were treated as if they had disorders.
Neurodivergent: Unlike neurotypical people, neurodivergent people are usually made aware that their brains work differently.
A neurodivergent person has one or more ways in which their brain functions outside the "typical" way. For example, neurodivergent people may be diagnosed with autism, ADHD, OCD, dyspraxia, dyslexia, dyscalculia, or Tourette's.

Co-op Local Community Fund
Can we please ask everyone to support Kendleshire Kids Foundation through the Co-op Local Community Fund at this link:
Co-op (coop.co.uk)
There is funding to share, by the chosen causes in the local area, as part of Co-op’s £4m UK-wide funding pot. The more members that choose Kendleshire Kids Foundation, by 19 October 2024, the more funding we will receive. Please do sign up at the link shown to help us gain as much funding as possible.
Future plans
We are hoping to encourage more young girls into our programme and we are, currently, working to bring Young Carers into our programme. We are hoping to secure specific funding to support these initiatives. Watch this space!

University of Bath Research Project on Kendleshire Kids Foundation
We have received a draft report on the above research project, which is looking positive. The research adopted a mixed methods approach, using quantitative data from two validated surveys that participants completed at regular intervals during the research period, and qualitative data from a series of interviews that were conducted with the participants.
Once the report has been formally completed, for this stage of the research, we will be able to share this with you. What we do know is that we are making a difference to our young people in a variety of ways and a few of these, we can share with you at this stage:
Growth Mindset is developing
Understanding that setbacks are motivational is better understood
Optimism is increasing
Hope is increasing
Self-efficacy is increasing
Resilience is increasing
Strong relationships and friendships are developing with both staff and peers
A massive thank you to Professor Haydn Morgan (Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) for his dedication to this research project!
